What is Botox?

The word is actually  a trademark for drug produced from a bacterium called Clostridum Botulinum and related species.

The treatment prevents the release of neurotransmitter acetylcholine from Axon endings at the neuromuscular junction, this causes flaccid paralysis. In layman terms, it reduces wrinkles and facial movements.

What does Botox do to Your Body?

It blocks the signal for your body to move a particular muscle, it stops the muscle from moving. This in turn, causes the wrinkles to relax and soften whilst helping to prevent new ones from forming.

What are the dangers of Botox?

It is widely considered safe and there are many studies on the subject as well as plenty of evidence based on results v reactions. There are potential side effects such as swelling, redness and bruising, if you are concerned then it might be worth speaking to a Dr before commencing with any treatment.
