Dental implants: options for replacing missing teeth
A dental implant is a small titanium replacement for a missing tooth root. It is placed in the jawbone and can support a replacement crown, bridge or denture.
Depending on your needs, implant treatment may help you:
- Replace a single missing tooth
- Restore several missing teeth with an implant-supported bridge
- Improve the stability of removable dentures
- Explore options for replacing a full arch of missing teeth
Dental implants can improve chewing, comfort and the appearance of your smile. They can also replace teeth without relying on neighbouring teeth for support.
Suitability depends on your oral health, bone levels and individual circumstances.
Why Smiles Centre
Why choose Smiles Centre for dental implants in Swindon?
Choosing implant treatment is a personal decision. At Smiles Centre, we want you to feel comfortable asking questions and confident that you understand your options.
An experienced implant dentist
Our implant dentist, Michael Marques, GDC 48997, provides implant treatment and works closely with the dental laboratory at Smiles Centre to plan and create replacement teeth.
Treatment planned around you
From a single missing tooth to more extensive tooth replacement, we assess your dental health and discuss an approach suited to your needs. You’ll receive an explanation of the proposed treatment before deciding how to proceed.

Your dental implant journey
Register for our November Open Month
Complete the enquiry form or call our reception team. We’ll contact you to arrange your £48.50 implant consultation and explain what to expect.
Discuss your smile and assess your suitability
Your dentist will listen to your goals and assess your dental health. We’ll explain the free digital scan offer and whether any further investigations are needed.
Understand your personalised treatment plan
If implants are suitable, we’ll explain the recommended treatment, alternatives, expected timescale, benefits, risks and costs. Any preparatory care, such as gum treatment or bone grafting, will be discussed before you agree to proceed.
Begin treatment when you’re ready
Implant placement is usually carried out under local anaesthetic. A healing period allows the implant to bond with the jawbone before the replacement teeth are fitted. The stages and timing depend on your individual treatment plan.
Fit your replacement teeth and plan your aftercare
Your crown, bridge or denture will be fitted and checked. We’ll explain how to care for your implants, including cleaning and ongoing dental reviews, and discuss how whitening may fit into your treatment plan.

Your dental implant questions answered
Do I need to be registered with Smiles Centre?
No. Our Dental Implant Open Month welcomes both new and existing patients. If you haven’t visited us before, this is an opportunity to meet the team and discuss your options.
Am I suitable for dental implants?
Your dentist will assess your teeth, gums, jawbone and medical history. Some patients need additional treatment before implants can be considered. If implants aren’t suitable, we can discuss other ways to replace missing teeth.
How long does dental implant treatment take?
Treatment usually involves several appointments over a number of months. Healing time and any preparatory treatment affect the overall timescale. Your dentist will explain what to expect for your particular case.
Is dental implant treatment painful?
Implants are usually placed under local anaesthetic to numb the area. Some discomfort, swelling or bruising can occur afterwards. Your dentist will explain recovery, aftercare and the risks relevant to your treatment.
Will whitening change the colour of my implant teeth?
Whitening lightens natural teeth; it does not change the colour of implant crowns, other crowns, veneers or fillings. Your dentist will discuss suitability and the timing of whitening alongside your implant treatment.
